Different people may experience different sensations while vaping. This text does not diagnose the cause of a symptom and does not replace a medical examination.
Dry mouth or throat
Propylene glycol is hygroscopic, so dry mouth or throat may be a possible explanation for the sensation experienced by some users. This is not evidence of general dehydration, and dryness can have other causes.
Irritated throat or cough
Irritation or sensitivity is possible for some people, including possible sensitivity to propylene glycol or another factor. It is not possible to determine from a symptom alone that this is an allergy, nor should every cough be assumed to be related to vaping.
Headache, nausea, or dizziness
These are symptoms that can occur for many reasons, including changes in nicotine use, smoking cessation, or factors unrelated to vaping. Nicotine exposure varies greatly between devices, liquids, and usage patterns.
When not to wait
Chest pain, shortness of breath, wheezing, a significant skin reaction, fainting, persistent vomiting, or any severe or persistent symptom requires stopping use and seeking medical attention. Clean air is always the best choice for your lungs. For adults who smoke, switching completely from smoking to vaping may reduce exposure to many of the harmful substances in smoke.
